PMS & iCal
Two-way iCal export and import for calendar sync. Preview of a later phase.
Preview. iCal calendar sync is planned for a later phase and is not live yet. This page describes the intended behavior so PMS and channel-manager partners can plan. For programmatic, real-time inventory today, use the availability and rates endpoints, which are fully live.
What is coming
iCal support will let property managers keep Coastly in sync with external calendars (other PMS tools, Airbnb, VRBO, and booking systems) using the widely supported iCalendar (.ics) format, in both directions.
Planned export (Coastly to you)
Each property, or each room type, will expose a read-only .ics feed URL. Subscribing to it in another calendar system blocks the dates that are booked in Coastly.

Exported events represent busy periods (reservations and manual blocks) with DTSTART and DTEND covering the booked nights. Feeds are meant to be polled on the consuming system's schedule.
Planned import (you to Coastly)
You will be able to register external .ics URLs against a property or room type. Coastly periodically fetches them and blocks the corresponding dates so an external booking cannot be double-sold on Coastly.
- Multiple source calendars can be attached to one room type; their busy periods are merged.
- Import is a background pull on an interval, so it is eventually consistent, not instant.
Choosing iCal vs the API
| Use case | Recommended |
|---|---|
| Real-time, precise inventory and pricing | availability + rates API |
| Instant reaction to bookings | webhooks |
Interop with tools that only speak .ics |
iCal sync (this feature, when live) |
iCal is best for broad calendar interoperability. For accuracy and speed, prefer the availability API and webhooks. When iCal ships, the two can run side by side.
